Os Queen anunciaram uma nova edição aumentada do álbum de estreia homónimo, de 1973, que incluía canções como ‘Keep Yourself Alive’, ‘Liar’ ou ‘Seven Seas of Rhye’. A caixa chega a 25 de outubro e inclui, entre outras novidades, gravações raras ao vivo, demos e versões alternativas das canções.
Com uma nova masterização e mistura, esta nova versão de “Queen” contou com a contribuição dos engenheiros de som Justin Shirley-Smith, Joshua J. Macrae e Kris Fredriksson, que tiveram como tarefa ir ao encontro da sonoridade que a banda sempre quis ter no álbum, algo visível no som de bateria da nova versão de ‘The Night Comes Down’, uma das primeiras canções que a banda gravou.
Outra surpresa desta nova versão do disco é a inclusão de gravações nunca ouvidas do primeiro concerto dos Queen, em agosto de 1970. A caixa traz seis CDs e um LP, incluindo 63 faixas, das quais 43 são novas misturas – entre elas está ‘Mad The Swine’, que não chegou a entrar no álbum, em 1973, devido a um diferendo entre a banda e um dos produtores do disco.
Além da música, esta reedição traz um livro de 108 páginas, com letras de canções escritas à mão, fotografias e outras recordações. “Isto não é apenas uma remasterização, é uma reconstrução nova, de 2024, do álbum de estreia dos Queen, ao qual resolvemos dar o título ‘Queen I’”, escreve o guitarrista Brian May nas notas.
